Conservation Council of New Brunswick

At the forefront of environmental protection and stewardship in New Brunswick since 1969, the Conservation Council of New Brunswick (CCNB) is a non-profit organization that creates awareness of environmental problems and advances practical solutions through research, education and interventions.

The Conservation Council of New Brunswick works to protect our air, land, and water. We are run by a small, dedicated staff. We depend on our members to give us the independence we need to speak out credibly and effectively on behalf of the environment and our communities.

We believe that the future of all life depends on bringing human activity in balance with ecological limits. Here at CCNB we encourage cooperation between individuals, organizations, and government as a means of pursuing a course of action that is both ecological and equitable.

The Conservation Council is a registered charity that depends on membership and public financial support to continue working on important issues in New Brunswick. Please consider giving a donation that will go directly towards the growth of the BuyLocal NB project.

Our Partners

The Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick (AANB) is led and run by farmers, steered by a volunteer board of directors comprised of farmers elected by their peers. The AANB works in close collaboration with agri-food commodities and agriculture associations and groups in order to promote a sustainable and prosperous agriculture industry. You can find out more about the AANB’s work supporting New Brunswick’s farmers at www.fermenbfarm.ca.

The National Farmers Union (NFU) in New Brunswick promotes policies that aim to revitalize agriculture in New Brunswick by strengthening family farms. On local, national and international levels, the NFU advocates alternative structures and government policies that resist corporate control of food. With farmers and consumers, NFU works to encourage vibrant rural communities, environmentally sustainable practices, and the production of safe, wholesome food. To learn more about their work, find them at www.nfunb.org.

The New Brunswick Food Security Action Network’s (NBFSAN) mandate is to facilitate networking among organizations and individuals to support promotion, research, education, and community engagement for increased food security in New Brunswick in order to ensure that all New Brunswickers have access to food that is healthy, local, and sustainably produced. NBFSAN’s website is an excellent resource for programs, resources, news, and events relating to food security in New Brunswick. Go see for yourself at www.nbfoodsecurity.ca

A network of committed and concerned community members from food banks, community kitchens, food mentors, producers, not-for-profit organizations, businesses, and government partners that have joined together to work towards reducing poverty and increasing food security in the Westmorland-Albert Counties. They can be found on New Brunswick Food Security Action Network website at http://www.nbfoodsecurity.ca/westmorland-albert-food-security-action-network/

As a non-profit cooperative, the Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network, or ACORN, promotes local organic agriculture by facilitating information exchange between and amongst organizations and individuals, coordinating non-formal education for producers through to consumers and networking with all interested parties both regionally and nationally. In the spring of 2014 ACORN launched its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Network, including a directory and a wealth of resources for both producers and consumers. To find out more about their work, and to check out CSA listings near you, visit www.acornorganic.org.
