Mantel Garland Granite Town Farms, a family owned and operated business since 1985, is nestled in the heart of wild blueberry country in St. George. Winners of a prestigious provincial Ministers Marketing Award of Excellence for product quality and marketing initiatives, we constantly strive for new and innovative ways to better serve customers world-wide. Granite Town Farms proudly grows all its own Northern Wild Blueberries to create a unique line of specialty and gourmet products for discerning customers. We thrive on the fact that we create our products from the ground up – from the earth to you. Wild blueberries are unique in nature both in the way they grow and in the health benefits they provide. Unlike other fruit, including their cultivated cousins, they are not planted, only managed. They flourish among granite-strewn fields in northern Maine and eastern Canada, the only areas in North America where they are commercially harvested. They are actually a biennial crop – a field is pruned one year, either by burning or mowing, and is harvested the following year, either by hand raking or mechanical harvester. This biennial growth pattern helps to explain why wild blueberries may seem expensive compared to other fruits.
